All for Good Causes

Your Company Can Make a Difference!

Organized annually by the ACCJ Chubu Chapter and Nagoya International School (NIS), the Walkathon is more than a fundraiser - it's a celebration of community, diversity, and shared purpose. Held each May, the event features live entertainment, food booths, games, and the signature charity walk, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for families, students, professionals, and civic leaders.

Celebrating 35 Years of Impact in 2026

Since its founding in 1991, the Chubu Charity Walkathon has grown into one of Japan's most enduring and impactful community charity events. Initiated by American businesses in Nagoya, the event was inspired by Western-style charity walks and created with a heartfelt mission: to give back to the community that welcomed them and to foster a spirit of goodwill and cross-cultural collaboration.

Over the past 34 years, the Walkathon has attracted more than 60,000 participants and raised over ¥196 million for local charities. These donations have supported a wide range of causes, including children’s welfare, support for people with disabilities, disaster

relief, and community development.

Key Milestones:

Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami Relief (2011)

In response to one of Japan’s most devastating natural disasters, the Walkathon community donated over ¥7.2 million to support victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, demonstrating the event’s commitment to national solidarity and compassion beyond regional boundaries.

Chubu Children’s Fund Launch (2016)

In partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) Chubu Chapter, the Walkathon helped establish the Chubu Children’s Fund, a dedicated initiative to empower, educate, and inspire children living in foster homes throughout the region. The fund provides scholarships and resources to help these young adults transition successfully into independent life. Today, the Walkathon remains the

primary source of funding for this vital program, with donations directly supporting educational opportunities and personal development.

Looking Ahead:
The 35th Anniversary in May 2026

As we prepare for the 35th Anniversary Walkathon, we are inviting the broader business community across Japan - including Tokyo, Kansai, and beyond - to join us in making this milestone event, the most impactful yet. Your support, whether through sponsorship, donations, or participation, will help us expand our reach and deepen our impact on the lives of those in need.

The Walkathon stands as a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared vision of generosity and hope. We welcome you to be part of this legacy and help us continue building a brighter future for the Chubu region and beyond.
